Categories

Categories are groupings of similar items for organisation and display on the POS — for example "Alcoholic Drinks" or "Food". They help staff find items quickly and keep your menu tidy.

Where to find it: Menu → Categories

The list shows each Category Name and the Department Count (how many departments sit under it).


Find and filter categories

  • Status tabsActive, Deleted, All.

Add a category

  1. Click Add Category.
  2. Enter the Category Name (required).
  3. Click Save.

Edit or delete a category

Click a category row to edit its name. Deleting a category moves it to the Deleted tab rather than removing it permanently, so you can recover it if needed.


Import and export

Use Download Template, Import, and Export to manage categories in bulk. Categories are also created automatically when referenced by name during an item import.


How categories relate to departments

A Category is the display grouping; a Department is the reporting line. An item belongs to a department, and the department determines the item's category. Set your departments up with the right categories and your items fall into place automatically.
